The ceremony and awards are done. Now for the moment that RCB had waited 18 years and this entire night for. The moment they were assured an hour or so ago. Rajat Patidar walks onto the stage and collects the trophy from BCCI president Roger Binny and ICC chief Jay Shah.

Fans whip out their phones to capture this moment. Virat Kohli is alongside him. Big cheer as RCB lift the trophy and off go the fireworks and the confetti.

Big big smiles in the RCB camp. Kohli kisses the trophy and lifts it, his 18-year wait ends.

RCB skipper Rajat Patidar: "It is really special for me, for Virat Kohli, and all the fans. Those who have supported for years, they all deserve it. After the Qualifier, we thought that we can go through. I think 190 was a good score on this track as it was a bit slow. Bowlers executing their plans was tremendous to watch. Krunal is a wicket-taking bowler, I look for him whenever we need wickets. Suyash and the pacers were good all season. Shepherd gave the key wicket tonight. It's a great opportunity for me and a great learning for me to captain Kohli, he deserves it more than anyone else. I just want to say one line to all the fans - Ee sala cup namdu"

Shreyas Iyer: "Dejected, but the way our came up to the occasion... a lot of credit goes to the management and each and every player. Considering the last game we played here, I felt 200 was par personally. They bowled excellently. Krunal was phenomenal, used his experience, that was the turning point. Proud of each individual in our team, a lot of youngsters played their first season. Their fearlessness was phenomenal. Job is still half done, we have to win it next year. The way we turned up to every game was a positive, they've gained a lot of experience and we can build on that next year."

Punjab Kings get the runners-up cheque of Rs 12.5 crores. Shreyas Iyer collects that on behalf of the franchise and the shield.

Krunal Pandya, winner of the IPL title for the fourth time, is the Player of the Match. "When we batted, we realised the slower you bowl the better it is. In this format, you need guts to do it. I just backed myself, thought I'll vary my pace and keep it on the slower side more often. My biggest strength has been to learn what the situation requires. I knew I had to be brave to get wickets tonight. Thought I'd do that by bowling slow. If you'd have bowled quick, it'd have been a good wicket. But if you mixed it up it was tougher. Pitch actually got easier in the second innings. Have enjoyed my time with RCB so far, I said on day one I wanted to win. I told Hardik that the Pandya household will have nine trophies in 11 years."

Emotional scenes in Ahmedabad as the 18-year wait comes to an end for Virat Kohli!

"She's been coming here and supporting RCB since 2014. Relentlessly coming to games. Watching us miss out. The sacrifices, the commitment, backing you through thick and thin is something you can't explain in words. She's connected to Bangalore as well. This is very special for her as well."

Kohli: "I was gone! I told him on the rope that I was gone!"

Kohli: "For me it's special to share it with these two. We felt we were close so many times, we had a special time. We wanted to win the title for RCB. It is 10-times more special because they're here. They've given everything and it is theirs too!"

Mayank Agarwal: Life is very unpredictable. If you can stay put, keep grinding, it can turn.

Jitesh: I can't express myself at the moment. I am very happy for Virat bhai. He has waited to 18 years and I can understand what he can feel. When you feel this tournament for someone else, it becomes magical. When you play for yourself, you become a bit subdued. But when playing for someone else, it becomes great.

Dinesh Karthik: Massive. It's a team that's waited 18 years, had to wait a long time. ABD, Kohli, all tried their hearts out. Support staff too. We believed from the start we were good. Had all bases covered. Was great that everyone stepped up at different situations. Got above par tonight, batters felt it wasn't easy. But final wasn't about the pitch, we needed fire in the belly and had it. Andy Flower pulled us through the ringer, he's groomed me, Mo Bobat had a plan and a vision. Bhuvneshwar Kumar: We knew the wicket will not be easy and 190 would not be easy. It was 10 more than what we thought. [On Krunal] his spell changed the scenario for us. Change of pace was not easy, but we thought we would not over-use it.

Virat Kohli speaks about Test cricket: "I look for ways to improve, I want to field and make an impact there. God's blessed me with perspective and talent. Just put my head down and worked as heart as I can. In the auction, people questioned our tactics but we were happy with what we had. Management kept us positive, the players were amazing. This moment is the best I've had and it still marks five levels under Test, I'd urge youngsters to give your heart and soul to it and that's what'll give you respect."

Virat Kohli speaks to Matthew Hayden: "This win is as much for the fans as it is for the team. I've given this team my youth, prime and experience. Tried to win it every season, gave it everything I can. Never thought this day would come, was overcome with emotion after we won.

"What ABD has done for the franchise is tremendous, told him 'this is as much yours as it is ours'. He's been the POTM most times in the franchise despite being retired for four years. He deserves to be on the podium, lifting the cup.

"This win is right up there, I've stayed loyal to this team. I had moments otherwise, but I stayed with them and them with me. My heart is with Bangalore, my soul is with Bangalore. This is a high-intensity tournament, I want to win the big tournaments and moments. Tonight, I'll sleep like a baby."

After 18 years, RCB finally have a trophy to show for their efforts. Now, both men and women have trophies in the cabinet. Fireworks go off at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
