RCB vs PBKS Live Score, IPL 2025 Final: Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar & Co. win maiden IPL title, beat Punjab Kings by 6 runs

RCB vs PBKS Live Score, IPL 2025 Final: Virat Kohli was the top scorer for Royal Challengers Bengaluru as they defeated Punjab Kings by six runs to claim their first IPL title.

Kohli’s 43 runs off 35 balls at the top of the order helped Bengaluru post a competitive total of 190 for 9. Punjab fought hard but fell short, finishing at 184 for 7.

Excitement erupted when Kohli and RCB secured their maiden IPL trophy after three previous final losses over 18 years. Kohli, aged 36 and one of India’s cricket legends, collapsed to the ground in celebration before being embraced by teammates while the crowd cheered.

Punjab’s chase was hampered by left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya, who took 2 wickets for 17 runs in four overs. Shashank Singh showed courage with an unbeaten 61, including three sixes and a four off Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who defended 29 runs in the final over.

Hazlewood struck early, dismissing Priyansh Arya caught by Phil Salt at the boundary. Prabhsimran Singh fell to Pandya next, followed by skipper Shreyas Iyer caught behind off Romario Shepherd’s bowling, thrilling the Bengaluru supporters.

Pandya took another wicket, ending Josh Inglis’ innings at 39, shifting momentum firmly to Bengaluru even as Shashank launched a late assault that ultimately was not enough.

Bengaluru got off to a good start with Kohli steady at the crease. Though not fluent, hitting just three fours, his innings proved crucial. He lost opening partner Phil Salt early but formed valuable partnerships, first with Mayank Agarwal (24 runs) and then captain Rajat Patidar (26 runs).

Punjab continued to take wickets, with leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal dismissing Agarwal and Kyle Jamieson trapping captain Patidar lbw.

Kohli’s innings ended when he miscued a rising ball from Afghanistan pacer Azmatullah Omarzai, caught and bowled, a disappointment reflected on his face and in the crowd.

Jamieson claimed his third wicket by dismissing Liam Livingstone, who scored a rapid 25 off 15 balls.

More wickets fell as Jitesh Sharma scored 24 off 10 balls and Romario Shepherd added 17 off nine.

Left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh finished with three wickets, including Shepherd’s, conceding just three runs in the 20th over.

IPL FINAL: RCB will celebrate well into the night!

Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans, you can finally celebrate tonight. It has taken many heartbreaks, many disappointments but that all ends now. The dream is fulfilled! You can finally convert 'Ee sala cup namde' to 'Ee sala cup namdu'.

And then there’s one man who’ll celebrate the most - the one who wears 18, the icon, the symbol of 18 years of loyalty, patience and support. A man who has proudly given his all to this franchise - Virat Kohli.

All said and done, Kohli deserves this more than others. Fitting that he's got AB de Villiers alongside him. And Chris Gayle. Both formed a stellar RCB batting unit for many years but were never able to go past the finish line. That ended tonight!

Thank you for staying with us on TimesofIndia.com. Our coverage of RCB's celebrations will continue before we move our attention to India's tour of England from June 20. Until then, goodnight!

RCB skipper Rajat Patidar: "It is really special for me, for Virat Kohli, and all the fans. Those who have supported for years, they all deserve it. After the Qualifier, we thought that we can go through. I think 190 was a good score on this track as it was a bit slow. Bowlers executing their plans was tremendous to watch. Krunal is a wicket-taking bowler, I look for him whenever we need wickets. Suyash and the pacers were good all season. Shepherd gave the key wicket tonight. It's a great opportunity for me and a great learning for me to captain Kohli, he deserves it more than anyone else. I just want to say one line to all the fans - Ee sala cup namdu"

Considering the last game we played here, I felt 200 was par personally. They bowled excellently. Krunal was phenomenal, used his experience, that was the turning point. Proud of each individual in our team, a lot of youngsters played their first season. Their fearlessness was phenomenal. Job is still half done, we have to win it next year. The way we turned up to every game was a positive, they've gained a lot of experience and we can build on that next year."

IPL LIVE SCORE: Krunal Pandya is the Player of the Match

Krunal Pandya, winner of the IPL title for the fourth time, is the Player of the Match. "When we batted, we realised the slower you bowl the better it is. In this format, you need guts to do it. I just backed myself, thought I'll vary my pace and keep it on the slower side more often. My biggest strength has been to learn what the situation requires. I knew I had to be brave to get wickets tonight. Thought I'd do that by bowling slow. If you'd have bowled quick, it'd have been a good wicket. But if you mixed it up it was tougher. Pitch actually got easier in the second innings. Have enjoyed my time with RCB so far, I said on day one I wanted to win. I told Hardik that the Pandya household will have nine trophies in 11 years."

IPL LIVE SCORE: Virat Kohli, ABD next to each other alongside Gayle

Kohli: "I was gone! I told him on the rope that I was gone!"

ABD: "Ee sala cup namdu!" (This cup is ours!)

Kohli: "For me it's special to share it with these two. We felt we were close so many times, we had a special time. We wanted to win the title for RCB. It is 10-times more special because they're here. They've given everything and it is theirs too!"

IPL LIVE SCORE: Jitesh, DK, Salt, Hazlewood, Bhuvi on title win

Mayank Agarwal: Life is very unpredictable. If you can stay put, keep grinding, it can turn.

Jitesh: I can't express myself at the moment. I am very happy for Virat bhai. He has waited to 18 years and I can understand what he can feel. When you feel this tournament for someone else, it becomes magical. When you play for yourself, you become a bit subdued. But when playing for someone else, it becomes great.

Dinesh Karthik: Massive. It's a team that's waited 18 years, had to wait a long time. ABD, Kohli, all tried their hearts out. Support staff too. We believed from the start we were good. Had all bases covered. Was great that everyone stepped up at different situations. Got above par tonight, batters felt it wasn't easy. But final wasn't about the pitch, we needed fire in the belly and had it. Andy Flower pulled us through the ringer, he's groomed me, Mo Bobat had a plan and a vision. It fell into place, amazing effort from the boys.

Phil Salt: It's an unbelievable feeling. I don't know where I am at the moment. I have not slept. [On being a father] I have got a luck charm now. Over the moon, mate. [Fans] Everywhere we got, we are the best supported team. It's a big fan base. AB is here, Chris is here. It's unbelievable. Thanks for supporting. You have won more games for us than you think.

Josh Hazlewood: I think 190 was a good score, wicket was up and down. May have gotten better in the second innings. Everyone chipped in. Means everything to Kohli, to be there from the start and get the result tonight will bring out a lot of emotion. (Coming back the right decision?) Absolutely, won't get better experience than this.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar: We knew the wicket will not be easy and 190 would not be easy. It was 10 more than what we thought. [On Krunal] his spell changed the scenario for us. Change of pace was not easy, but we thought we would not over-use it.

IPL Live Score: Virat Kohli on Test cricket vs IPL

Virat Kohli speaks about Test cricket: "I look for ways to improve, I want to field and make an impact there. God's blessed me with perspective and talent. Just put my head down and worked as heart as I can. In the auction, people questioned our tactics but we were happy with what we had. Management kept us positive, the players were amazing. This moment is the best I've had and it still marks five levels under Test, I'd urge youngsters to give your heart and soul to it and that's what'll give you respect."

23:41 (IST) Jun 03

IPL LIVE SCORE: Virat Kohli with some beautiful words

Virat Kohli speaks to Matthew Hayden: "This win is as much for the fans as it is for the team. I've given this team my youth, prime and experience. Tried to win it every season, gave it everything I can. Never thought this day would come, was overcome with emotion after we won.

"What ABD has done for the franchise is tremendous, told him 'this is as much yours as it is ours'. He's been the POTM most times in the franchise despite being retired for four years. He deserves to be on the podium, lifting the cup.

"This win is right up there, I've stayed loyal to this team. I had moments otherwise, but I stayed with them and them with me. My heart is with Bangalore, my soul is with Bangalore. This is a high-intensity tournament, I want to win the big tournaments and moments. Tonight, I'll sleep like a baby."

The IPL 2025 final promises a gripping showdown between two teams chasing history — Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings. For RCB, this marks a fourth shot at glory, having fallen short in three previous finals. But under the calm leadership of Rajat Patidar, they’ve staged a spirited comeback this season, peaking at the right time. Their 8-wicket demolition of PBKS in Qualifier 1 was a statement of intent, led by Patidar’s poise, Phil Salt’s fireworks, and a bowling unit firing on all cylinders.

Punjab Kings, on the other hand, bounced back strongly in Qualifier 2, with Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 87 guiding them to a second-ever IPL final, their first since 2014. While RCB are fuelled by the desire to win their maiden title for stalwart Virat Kohli, PBKS are driven by the hunger to rewrite their legacy. It’s not just a contest of bat and ball, but of belief, redemption, and the weight of years of heartbreak.

RCB vs PBKS Head to Head:

Total Matches Played: 36

PBKS vs RCB: Pitch Report:

The pitch at Ahmedabad is expected to offer ideal conditions for batting, especially as the match progresses. The surface has a consistent grass covering and a hint of early moisture, but the intense heat is likely to dry it out quickly, making it a true wicket with good bounce and carry. The ball should come on nicely to the bat, favouring stroke play throughout the innings. The square boundaries measure 61 and 67 metres, while the straight boundary stretches to 73 metres, offering some help to the bowlers who can vary their lengths smartly.

Punjab Kings predicted XI: Priyansh Arya, Josh Inglis (wk), Shreyas Iyer (c), Nehal Wadhera, Marcus Stoinis, Shashank Singh, Azmatullah Omarzai, Kyle Jamieson, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal
