One of the most renowned Valley of Flowers is in Uttarakhand. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve in the Chamoli district in the western Himalayas. A trekker’s paradise! The valley is home to over 600 species of flora, including rare flowers like the Blue Poppy, Cobra Lily, and Brahma Kamal.

Yumthang Valley, also known as the "Valley of Flowers of the East" is in North Sikkim. Set at an altitude of 11,800 feet, the valley is all about snow-covered peaks and alpine forests. Come summer, the valley converts into a colourful canvas. The Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary here is home to over 24 species of rhododendrons.
Best time to visit: Time between April and June is considered the best when rhododendrons, primulas, and poppies bloom.
This one is perfect for monsoon lovers! Kaas Plateau or the "Valley of Flowers of Maharashtra," is a lesser-known UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site near Satara. The valley comes alive with seasonal wildflowers that cover the plateau in vibrant colours during the monsoon months. The valley is home to over 850 species of flowering plants, some of which are endemic to the region. Those planning can easily reach here from cities like Pune and Mumbai.
Best time to visit: Late August till early October is the best time to explore the beauty of the place.
Munnar hosts a spectacular natural event known as the blooming of the Neelakurinji flowers, which bloom once every 12 years! Witnessing these bluish-purple flowers in their glory is a sight to remember. The most recent bloom happened in 2018, and the next is expected in 2030. The Eravikulam National Park, near Munnar, is one of the best spots to view these.
