VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, along with his family members laid foundation stone for the construction of his own house in Amaravati. The groundbreaking ceremony was performed at 8:51 Am on Wednesday according to the muhurat fixed by the Vedic scholars.The farmers from Amaravati decorated the site with flowers and rangolis, where the groundbreaking ceremony was held. The woman farmers stayed till late on Tuesday night for decorating the site. The woman also presented the chief minister couple and Nara Lokesh couple with new clothes.Naidu’s family purchased about 25000 sq yards of land abutting E-6 road and the seed access road. The land was purchased from three brothers from Velagapudi village who gave their lands for the construction of Amaravati. Naidu’s family purchased the returnable plots given to three brothers and the the cumulative land parcel will have roads on all four sides.The land is situated near Amaravati Govt Complex and assembly. Though not many details are revealed about the designs and architecture, it is learnt that the house will occupy only a small portion of the total land. The plan includes a mini conference hall and servant quarters. A large portion of the land will be developed into a garden and adequate parking space will also be designated, according to sources.
The construction might take about 18 months for completion.Naidu has been staying in a rented house for the past ten years after the administration has shifted to Amaravati from Hyderabad. He was criticised by the opposition YSRCP for not having an own house while Jagan Mohan Reddy built a house for himself at Tadepalli. However, with the construction of own house, Naidu will become one of the first outsider other than the local residents, to build a own house in core capital area.Sources in TDP said that though Naidu wanted to build his house after completing the construction of capital city, now he wanted to set an example to exude confidence among prospective investors to show that capital Amaravati will be developed as worldclass city. Meanwhile, the state govt is making extensive planning for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit who will relaunch the works of Amaravati later this month.
