The victim, Lekhraj Singh, a farmer from Fareedpur village in Sikandrabad, was riding pillion on a bike driven by his nephew, Shiv Kumar, when they came under attack.

"It seems Kumar overtook a car with four men inside, which angered one of them, who then fired a shot that hit Singh in the back. The accused fled the scene and were traced using CCTV footage," said Anil Kumar Shahi, SHO, Sikandrabad.

The three accused -- Vijay Kumar, Indrajit Singh and Colonel Singh, all residents of Ecotech-I in Greater Noida -- were returning from a wedding at the time of the incident.

An FIR under BNS section 109 (1) (attempt to murder) and 3/25 of the Arms Act were registered against them.

The SHO added: "The pistol used in the shooting belonged to Colonel Singh, who has four cases registered against him in Bulandshahr and Gautam Buddh Nagar.
